Taking the time to get to know ourselves should be a priority and a continuous journey. Taking small moments every now and then to ask ourselves questions about our past, present, and future, is important, as well as being open to how our answers may change as we increase in age and enter new life phases.
Being mindful and clear about our values, dreams, hopes, disappointments, and fears increases our self-awareness and helps us stay true to ourselves. Increased self-awareness leads to increased self-esteem, self-love, and self-compassion. Attaining a strong sense of self, allows us to reach out to others and form connections and relationships that are well balanced. Love is given and love is received. Words are spoken and listened to. Affection is offered and respected.
