Art Therapy

Art therapy is offered by Meg Bearman, a pre-licensed art therapist and graduate of The George Washington University’s Art Therapy Program, a masters degree program specializing in art therapy and the treatment of trauma.

Sometimes words alone cannot fully capture our emotions, our thoughts, and our feelings. As a clinical art therapist in Nashville, I weave talk therapy and art therapy to treat an array of mental health disorders including anxiety, depression, grief, and trauma.

Benefits from art therapy include:

  • Reducing stress and anxiety
  • Coping with loss, depression and PTSD symptoms
  • Increasing self-esteem, self-awareness, coping skills, and communication

Art therapy does not require you to be a “good” artist, only to have an open mind and a willingness to try something new!

The advantage of being an art therapist is that it makes me a more dynamic therapist. I consider myself a “regular” talk therapist who also uses art therapy with clients if they are interested and if is beneficial to their specific course of treatment. The integration of art therapy into the therapy space is optional and one of many tools I offer to clients in treatment.
