When everyday life feels harder

You may feel less interested in things you used to enjoy, find it difficult to get started, or feel distant from people around you. Some people want a place to say how they are doing without feeling responsible for reassuring anyone else. Others are unsure how to describe the change they have noticed.

Depression can affect mood, thinking, sleep, energy, and daily activities. These experiences can have more than one cause, so an evaluation matters. The National Institute of Mental Health’s depression overview explains symptoms and treatment options. You do not need to diagnose yourself before contacting the practice.

What can therapy focus on?

Your therapist will want to understand your experience in context: current responsibilities, relationships, health concerns, losses, and what support you already have. Together, you can decide what would make the work useful and how to approach it without turning therapy into another demand you feel you are failing to meet.

  • Making room to talk honestly about low mood, numbness, or discouragement.
  • Exploring patterns of self-criticism and how they affect daily life.
  • Understanding changes in relationships, routines, and sources of connection.
  • Setting manageable goals and reviewing what is helping.

Which therapist can I see?

Meg Bearman, LPC/MHSP, ATR brings a strengths-based, integrative approach and a background in complex trauma. Her work can include exploring the connections between present concerns, relationships, and earlier experiences. Art making is optional, and you can choose therapy centered on conversation.

Seema Sharma, Pre-Licensed Professional, MA works with depression alongside anxiety, grief, relationship issues, and life transitions. Her approaches include cognitive behavioral, humanistic, compassion-focused, and solution-focused therapy. She is supervised by Randi Williams, LPC, CPCS.

If you are unsure where to begin, compare Meg and Seema and bring your questions to the consultation. The aim is to consider your needs, the clinician’s experience, and a workable appointment format together.

What if I do not have much energy to explain?

A brief description is enough to make an initial inquiry. You might say that your mood has changed, that everyday tasks feel harder, or that you want help understanding what is happening. You can ask about the first-session process before deciding what to share in greater depth.

Can therapy be part of a broader treatment plan?

Yes. Treatment for depression can include psychotherapy, medication, or other care depending on a person’s needs. Discuss existing treatment and medical concerns with your therapist and prescribing clinician. The counseling services described here are psychotherapy; questions about medication should go to an appropriate medical prescriber.
